Visual Arts Alberta ~ CARFAC is launching our Draw More Income campaign, running from March 3rd to May 28th 2016, as a community engagement project dealing with the socio-economic conditions of artist in Alberta. We aim to collect raw data on the stories, successes and concerns of artists in order to guide our future programing as a provincial service organization.

As a part of this project we are asking artists to draw/write/photograph/craft/ design/ illustrate/etc. your thoughts, stories, successes, and concerns about earning an income from your art and share them with us. These works will be displayed in our gallery space from March 3rd to May 28th and contribute to our annual report.

Medicine Hat Artist, Theresa Eisenbarth will host a session for artists for Southern Alberta to provide their input. Please bring your markers or any other creative material to “draw your income” postcard at the Medicine Hat Library. There will also be a PowerPoint and discussion for artists to brainstorm ideas for making income in the arts.

Seeking Artists

Our new Boutique, located inside the Esplanade, is a treasure trove of exciting art and handmade quality craft. We are currently seeking new consignment artists, artisans and crafters to join us for what promises to be a fabulous year.

If you’re an Albertan artist, artisan or crafter, and are interested in selling your work on consignment through our gallery boutique, we want to hear from you! If you aren’t an artist yourself, but know one who might be interested, please be sure to spread the word!

If you are looking for a retail venue in Medicine Hat for your art, please submit 4-8 images as a good representation of your work with a relative price range, and a short bio to consignment@hivehub.ca. Our consignment team will meet and review submissions soon and will be in touch.

Our wall space is somewhat limited so if your work is primarily wall hung, please consider alternate display suggestions in your submission.

For more information stop by the Hive Artists’ Hub Boutique or contact the consignment team at consignment@hivehub.ca.
