All material must be submitted in hard copy and arrive by mail, courier, or submitted in person to:

Completed application form.
A CD with 10 Images of recent work in jpeg format. Do not submit images embedded in a program such as PowerPoint.
A hard copy of your image list stating Title, Medium and Size.
Two references with name and contact information.
C.V.
$20 non refundable application fee.
Proposal letter stating your intended course of exploration during your term.
Envelope with sufficient postage for return of application materials.
If accepted, you will be notified within two weeks of the application closing date.

Note: There are other possibilities for subsequent short and half term applications. For more information contact us.

The Hive’s Mission

The Hive Artists Hub is a co-operative educational environment in which visual artists and artisans can explore business opportunities that will enable them to successfully operate self-sustaining businesses.

Mandate:

To attract visual artists from a variety of media to share a downtown location which will act as an incubator for creative, professional and marketing ideas. Artists will be provided with subsidized studio space, retail/gallery storefront and professional development opportunities.

Exhibition on July 24th: PIGEONHOLES

An art opening on July 24th at noon. The exhibition features the artwork of Kristian Jungk, a Visual Communications student, who is really enjoying his workterm at the Hive. Inspired by George N. Barnard and Ansel Adams, Kris tried to create panoramic photography of Medicine Hat.

The exhibition will be up until August 19th.

Medicine Hat –There is one artist and/or artisan studio at The Hive, which is available for an artist of any media for a short term. The application deadline is August 15th, 2010. The Hive Artists’ Hub is a Canadian Badlands Ltd. initiative, under the supervision of the Historic Clay District. Located in downtown Medicine Hat, the facility has five artist and/or artisan studios which are subsidized through the Rural Alberta Development Fund. Short and long-term opportunities are available for artists, who will also have access to professional
development opportunities and storefront gallery.

Call for artists and artisans in Canadian Badlands Ltd, Historic Clay District’s new artist incubator in downtown Medicine Hat

Medicine Hat – The Canadian Badlands Ltd. and Historic Clay District have partnered to create an artist incubator in downtown Medicine Hat. The space, which will be known as The Hive Artists’ Hub, will provide studio space for artists and/or artisans who wish to focus on their work. In addition, artists will also have access to professional business development and a retail storefront space.

There are five artist and/or artisan studios at The Hive, which are available for artists from a variety of media. The application deadline is May 7, 2010. To apply or for more information, contact Tobie Laliberte at 403.504.5371,
